Dentures

Our implant retained dentures are anchored to the jawbone through dental implants. They offer several advantages over conventional dentures, including improved chewing efficiency, enhanced speech clarity, and increased durability. Additionally, they can help preserve the jawbone and prevent bone loss, which is a common issue with toothloss. Overall, implant retained dentures provide a long-lasting and reliable solution for individuals who have lost multiple teeth.

Confidence in your smile

Dentures that look and feel like real teeth

Dental implants are titanium posts that are surgically inserted into the jawbone, to act as artificial tooth roots. The implants provide a stable foundation for the dentures, that will be attached to them. 4-6 implants can hold a full set of dentures in place, giving you a mouthful of crowns that look and feel like natural teeth. Partial dentures are also possible. They consist of bridges with crowns attached, secured with an implant at either end.

  • Permanent dentures that are secured in place
  • Enjoy a wider variety of food with secure replacement teeth
  • Preserve the structure of your jawbone
  • Prevent your face from ageing prematurely
  • Comfortable fit and more confidence in your smile

Our Treatment Process

1. Your Consultation

We’ll examine your mouth, teeth, and gums, as well as take a 3D scan to evaluate your bone density and structure. This information is crucial in determining the number and placement of dental implants needed to support the dentures. We’ll also discuss your medical history and any pre-existing conditions with you.

Our Treatment Process

2. Your Treatment

The placing of the implants will be done surgically under local anaesthesia. Once the implants have integrated with the bone, abutments are attached to them, which act as connectors between the implants and the dentures. Finally, custom-made dentures are created and attached to the abutments.

Our Treatment Process

3. Aftercare

Our dentist will advise you on how to properly clean and care for your implant retained dentures. You’ll be asked to ensure you attend any regular dental check-ups and cleanings to monitor the health of the implants and prevent any potential complications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your Questions Answered

  • As implant-retained dentures are permanent and not removable, you should brush them as you would a natural set of teeth.

  • Implant-retained dentures are a comfortable and reliable solution to toothloss. They have none of the discomfort and instability commonly associated with traditional dentures. Plus, because they don’t rely on adhesives or clasps.

  • While these dentures are designed to be long-lasting, with many patients retaining the same set for 30+ years, it is possible that you may need to get replacement dentures at some point in the future. Regular visits to your dentist will help assess the condition of your dentures and determine if replacements are necessary.

  • A bone graft is often recommended when there isn’t enough bone in the jaw to support the implants needed for the dentures. The purpose of a bone graft is to strengthen and augment the existing bone, providing a solid foundation for the implant. Our dentist will assess your jawbone density through imaging techniques to determine if a bone graft is required.

  • Having dentures fitted is generally a comfortable and pain-free process. This is because the procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia. Once the implants are in place, there may be some minor discomfort and swelling for a few days, but this can be managed with over-the-counter pain medication. It is important to follow post-operative care instructions provided by our dentist to promote healing and minimise any potential discomfort.

  • You will need to have sufficient bone density in the jaw to support the implants. This is why some patients need bone grafts beforehand. Our dentist will explore whether our dentures are a viable option for you when you visit us for your consultation.

  • You may experience a short period of discomfort and swelling immediately after the procedure. This can last for a few days to a week. During this time, it is advisable to follow our dentist’s instructions regarding pain management and oral hygiene. We also recommend you stick to a soft food diet during the initial healing phase.
